Catfish (2010) review
Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in Film

I enjoyed Catfish, a movie billed as a documentary about a New York City man who befriends a family in Michigan on Facebook and they begin an online friendship which includes an online romance with one of the girls in the family.

Drawn to this movie mostly because of the New York-Michigan connection, I wanted to see how much of a role Michigan played in the film.

Taken at face value - which you always must do when watching movies to actually enjoy them - I give the film a 7/10 for creating an interesting mystery that was well-edited and well-executed. I admit the trailer really got me stirred up, but sadly, it is very misleading but did its job getting my butt in the seat. It is certainly not an "emotional rollercoaster" but it is heart-wrenching in places. And there is enough humor to keep you going.

I'd rent it with some friends and then have a discussion as to what you would do when presented with a similar situation.
