I lived in Seattle during the dot com boom. I haven't been back in 10 years. It has changed in places, but to me, it hasn't really changed at all. The same chairs at the same restaurants and bars I used to go to are still there. And it's still so beautiful and peaceful. An urban utopia. I still vastly prefer NYC, but those mountains do cast a spell on you.

While waiting for a ferry, I snapped this. I call it "Ferrytale." Enjoy.

RIP Bob Arihood - the big teddy bear of Avenue A

Bob Arihood was a fixture on Avenue A on the Lower East Side - the very street I live on. I've seen him countless times over the years taking photographs and he had no equals in his ability to really capture the Lower East Side (East Village).

It wasn't until last year that I not only had the courage to approach him, but befriend him. He was always quick with a smile and a dose of wit.

Then in a strange twist, I met my significant other, Lindsay Wengler, who was very close to Bob, and I got to know him even better.

Bob passed away last week, victim of a heart attack in his home. I was walking with Lindsay right near Ray's and got the notice on my phone. I had the unfortunate task of informing her a dear friend had passed away. Won't forget that anytime soon.

Everyone is taking it pretty hard. A sudden death always is such a shock to people.

Bob's photography was fantastic. He had a Leica M9 and a really great eye and the ability to "be there." Here is my favorite photograph he made.

I find it peaceful and inspiring.

Rest in peace, Bob Arihood.
