Facebook just released a new comment view feature for your photo albums. Click it, and you'll see photos in a photo album arranged down the left hand side with associated comments on the right hand side. Very useful!

B&H Photo Video Android app 100% 5 star reviews

The B&H Android App which was ported from the iPhone app I designed has received, thus far, 100% 5 star reviews. I could not be more happy. It really looks great. The guys at Endeca should be held in high regard, they did a fantastic job with this port.

You can update your B&H iPhone app now, Apple just released the update. Wishlist for iPhone is coming very early next year!

Downloading the user manual for your camera/electronics gear

The downloadable manuals have been a big hit with the B&H Photo iPhone app. If you'd like to download them to your computer, you can do that as well. My B&H iPhone app is live!

After months of work, my B&H iPhone app is live in the app store! It's free and I geared it toward photographers who are in the field who need to get gear fast - as well as valuable info.

My top 5 useful features:

1. Download user manuals for close to 3,000 items (see the manual offerings of the Canon 5D Mark II in the app to see just how comprehensive the documentation is)

2. Search (it's very fast, and the filtering allows you to narrow a broad search to something very specific with just a few taps: thanks to Endeca, our developer/vendor for a job well done!)

3. Item photos - pinch and zoom on some of the product photos - they look really great in high-resolution on the Retina display, you can really zoom up close!

4. Checkout - we're one of the few non-public retail stores (if the only?) that offers full checkout with credit card right in the app without having to load a regular webpage. Check out is done all right within the app. We don't save credit card info yet, but probably will someday.

5. Break a lens on set in Zimbabwe, we can ship you a new lens in 3 days. In the USA, shipped overnight - right from your phone in just a few taps!

The best one is probably the downloadable manuals. If you've lost or don't have your Canon 5D Mark II manual for instance, to find how you set a particular function, you can download it right over the air! The manuals are in PDF and you're able to scroll through them, but for the next version we'll integrate with iBooks or get a better UI for that, so you can search, bookmark and browse manuals. But for now, it's certainly better than not having the manual.

Great lens set if you can swing the $24,000

You can use these with your DSLR camera, which is what I use to shoot movies. It's all about the glass, folks, and these Zeiss CP.2 Compact Prime lenses have quite a nice glass!

Making the most of Facebook to drive eyeballs to your business or product

I work for a large electronics retailer in Manhattan and have been wanting to get the company into more social media. We do thousands of customers a day in the store, and millions of unique visitors on the web.

Photographers naturally gravitate to the web and as mobile professionals, social media is a good fit for them, and us. It's a tough sell, however as my employer is a very shy company... however I got them to agree to let me try some tricks to increase our numbers, and the results were nothing short of astonishing. For the last year or so we've only had about 1,700 "fans," which is pretty bad. I was able to skyrocket our numbers twenty-fold in no time at all. As of this writing, there are over 20,000.

The time difference between the screenshots below is less than one week!
